What is Appreciative Inquiry?

AI is a theory and pratice for approaching change and development in organisations. What makes it different and more sustainable than many other methodologies is its underlying principles of a whole system approach; dialogue; and an exploration of the root causes of success.

Appreciative Inquiry generates change by asking "what can we discover from when we are at our best, and what possibilities does that create for our future?" Because of this positivity, the change that is generated through AI is shown to be more engaging, more energising, and consequently more sustainable over time.

Paint specialises in supporting Organisation Change and Development initiatives in all sized businesses through:

Appreciative Inquiry (Summit): accelerating whole system change. The format of a 'summit' has a range of possibilities, depending on the needs of the organisation.

A Summit follows the 4D cycle of AI:

Discover - when is this group at its best (in relation to the topic of inquiry)?
Dream - given what we know we can achieve, what are the possibilities for the future?
Design - what organisational design elements will support the change? Co-construct the future.
Destiny - embed the actions and behaviours for sustainable change.

The 'whole system' comes together (physically or virtually), to create the change they want for their organisation.

Organisational Diagnosis: understanding what is occurring within an organisation or team that can support (or hinder) desired outcomes, and identify key themes/patterns.

An Organisational Diagnosis can be undertaken via a targeted and tailored on-line survey, or via one-on-one interviews with a skilled consultant.

Strategic Alignment: Paint Group brings many years of experience in helping teams and organisations to set organisational goals, objectives, and develop strategies for success. Appreciative Inquiry supports the process by helping teams quickly identify the strengths that underpin success. Then focusing on what can be achieved through commitment to a shared vision, personal goals and individual accountability.

Team Development: Working with teams and individuals to build relationships, improve interpersonal communications, and to understand and create the culture they want to work in.
